Frame of the Week

“Radiant Baby” from Icon Series (1990) by Keith Haring

  • Haring initially created the "Radiant Baby" as a graffiti tag on the streets of New York City. He saw public spaces as an opportunity to bring art to a wider audience.

  • The "Radiant Baby" represents the purity and innocence of children.

  • The image gained immense popularity due to its simplicity and optimistic nature. Haring saw it as a universal symbol that could be easily understood and embraced by people from different cultures.

Fame of the Week

“Untitled (Mask Boy)” (2014) by Kerry James Marshall

  • This Kerry James Marshall painting was sold at a Sotheby’s auction for $5.7mm. This was the most expensive work sold at the auction.

  • ”…Untitled (Mask Boy) confronts art history on its own terms, asserting the primacy and presence of an African American narrative within the larger legacy of contemporary American painting.”

Find of the Week

“Dirt, dust, mud and scorpion in November” (2023) by Justin Williams

  • From June 10th to July 8th, the Wanderlust exhibition is taking place at Roberts Projects in Los Angeles.

  • Wanderlust takes as its subject the mysteries of interiority and the deeply personal mythologies refined in the process of self-realization.
